I have been researching installing solar panels on my poultry roof. Is there a set distance the panels need to be from each edge of the roof so i can work out exactly how many panels i can install? Thanks

If you apply for planning permission, you can apply for planning with any distance from the edges. However, if you are only putting up a small system of less than 50 sq m, then the exemption in the planning guidelines restricts you to being 50cm from any edge. The planning exemptions can be seen <a href=”https://static.solartricity.ie/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/commercial-wind-turbine-exemptions.pdf”>here</a&gt;.  In considering a planning application, it is quite possible that the same spacing would be demanded by the council, but on many sites there is no benefit to that. In fact, I would think that a roof that is completely covered is less visually intrusive. However, for wind loading, you may also need to respect a distance from the edge.
